COMMUNITY SERVICE - JOYFUL QUILTERS
We meet monthly in the classroom building behind the Kent First Baptist Church. The time is 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on the Fridays before Evergreen Piecemakers Guild meetings which are the second Mondays. Bring your lunch and a friend. Most supplies and projects are provided but do bring your sewing machine if you plan to sew. Please check the calendar for specific dates.
JOYFUL QUILTERS is committed to making quilts to provide comfort and warmth to those in need. Through the years and the tremendous leadership and dedicated volunteers like you, we have made hundreds of quilts which we donate to various organizations and agencies such as the list that follows.
Most supplies and fabrics are donated to us. We put together kits to sew, as well as tops to quilt and bind. We promote the use of longarm machines so encourage our members to practice their skills on our tops. Evergreen Piecemaker's own their own long arm and meet twice a month to quilt our community quilts, which is at Bryn Mawr Methodist Church a few Wednesdays a month from 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
MORE WAYS TO HELP:
Make and donate a quilt from start to finish.
Pick up a kit, a quilt to bind or a top to quilt at Guild meetings.
Donate supplies—fabric, batting, thread, etc.
Piece/make backs for tops. They should be 3” larger on all sides then the quilt top.
Make binding from 2 ½” wide strips.
Bindings can be machine or hand finished.
GUILDLINES FOR QUILT SIZES:
LAP 34-36” x 48-52”
CHILD QUILT 42-44” x 54-72”
TWIN 72” x 84”
If you want a quilt to donate to a worthy cause, fill out this form, then submit it to Judy Gage.
